The Harambee African Youth Empowerment Camp

HCBMAA is hosting a 2 week, Youth African Diaspora camp in August
The First camp is August 6-8
The Second camp is August 13-14.

Cultural healing will take place incorporating Afrocentric values, moral, harmony and traditions to the youth to enhance Black Community Resilience.


The HCBMAA Youth Director is Lorenza Simmons. The workshop offered to the youths are from local leaders and members in our community who identify as African American with knowledge of Black cultural practices, traditions, dancing, art, singing and storytelling.

We will be offering the camp free of charge with lunch and snacks.

HCBMAA is hosting a 5 Day Harambee African Teen workshop on African Diaspora starting Thursday, August 6 at 11:30 am ending with the Rights of Passage of Black Beach Friday August 14.

The workshop will offer leadership skills while becoming a mentor in Humboldt County.
Cultural healing will take place incorporating Afrocentric values, moral, harmony and tradition to the youth to enhance Black Community Resilience.


The HCBMAA Youth Director is Lorenza Simmons. The workshop offered to teens are from leaders who identify as African American with knowledge of Black cultural practices, traditions, drumming, dancing, art, singing and storytelling.

The Rights of Passage for teens will take place Friday August 14 at 11:00- 1:00, Family members are encourage to come and support the teens transition.
Lunch will be provided as well.
This camp is free of charge.
