Lgbtq+ 4 blm: March of Solidarity/GuerrillArt

PLEASE READ COMPLETELY FOR IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for being here! This page is for information on the Solidarity March happening this Saturday (6/27) in Eureka. (Continue checking back for updates!)

THIS IS A MARCH OF SOLIDARITY, NOT A PRIDE PARADE.

This march is a community event put together by varying, unincorporated members of the local BIQPOC community. The purpose of this march is to show solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter Movement and local queer Black, indigenous, people of color (QBIPOC), as well as hold space for QPOC—particularly Black and indigenous artists—to express their voice. This march also serves to commemorate and honor the Black, trans, and QPOC heroes—from Stonewall to the future—to whom we owe Pride.

CODE OF CONDUCT:
+ SAFETY FIRST. Protect yourselves and each other.
+ PLEASE RESERVE THE LEADING OF CHANTS TO BIQPOC. A good question to ask yourself is, “Can someone else who is present, and willing, speak on this from a truer place than me?”
+ DO NOT ESCALATE. Inciting conflict—with law enforcement especially—will disproportionately harm Black and POC.
+ BE MINDFUL OF EXPOSING FELLOW ATTENDEES. Identifying photos and videos could put members of our community in vulnerable situations.
+ DO NOT SPEAK TO PRESS.

SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT COVID PRECAUTIONS:
This event values the safety and security of our community and recognizes the disproportionate risk to its members. Therefore:

+ MASKS AND PROPER SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS ARE REQUIRED.
-Instead of making a sign, consider displaying a message on your mask. (You could also bring a blank mask. BLM patches will be available, first come, first served, at the march. This is not to discourage signs, but more so to ensure masks are worn.)
+ TIMES ARE HARD-SET TO REDUCE EXPOSURE.
+ THIS EVENT WILL RELY ON WORD OF MOUTH PUBLICITY PRIMARILY. Ideally, a massive attendance would be the most powerful statement, but realistically a reduced attendance is the safest outcome.

It is understood that, unfortunately, not everyone will be able to make the event. Continue reading for suggestions on how you can participate whilst protecting yourself and your at-risk loved ones.
